A shopping study was undertaken as part of the background work into developing ideas about what to do with the rear of the site behind the community fuel station. We asked questions about shopping habits as part of the community questionnaire undertaken in the autumn of 2015.
A series of reports have been created from the community questionnaire in order to support our funding bids. This report summarises local shopping habits giving insights from the Association of Convenience Stores into best practise for operating rural convenience premises.
It includes a snap shot of current trends and identifies rural shopping needs. There are gaps in the village shopping portfolio, these coupled with the established trends in online shopping all impact on why over 50% of our community shops elsewhere.
The Trust would hope to see this factor decrease once fuel is again available in the village.
